Clara Martinez
Dancer, Teacher
Born in Barcelona in 1996, she began to tap dance in 2011 at “Escola Coco Comín”. In 2014 she studied the Professional Tap Training at “Escola Luthier”, runned by Guillem Alonso. She has traveled, attended and taught tap dance at festivals in various European countries. In 2018 she started “La Banda, Street Groove”, a body percussion, tap and urban dance company that currently continues to tour Catalonia with its second show RAC (Ritme al Carrer). In 2019, she received a scholarship to attend the Tap program at Jacob's Pillow Festival, one of the most prestigious dance venues in the United States. She has assisted, worked and choreographed with one of her mentors, Rubén Sánchez, and is co-creator of “The Ground Sisters”, a tap duo with which she has performed with great artists such as Andrea Motis and the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, bringing tap dance to theaters such as the Coliseum or the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. She is currently a dancer for UNUM Project by Estefanía Porqueras and a tap teacher at “Escola Swingcats” in Barcelona. She is also a choreographer and dancer for the well-known Catalan singer for family audiences Dàmaris Gelabert, and her new project “Grow Up Singing”.
